Facebook Stories: Snapchat stories copied to the Facebook app after Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp

Facebook can’t help itself from copying the Snapchat Stories feature and it is pretty evident so far. The company has cloned the functionality in Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp with an uncanny resemblance. Now after cloning it at every place possible, the company has introduced the feature to the main Facebook app.
Though the story is not new and we previously report on the feature while Facebook was testing the feature. The amusing part about this feature is that ‘Facebook Stories’ was an existing feature that the company announced back in 2010. Back then, it was experiences shared by individuals across the world. The feature can still be accessed by visiting Facebook Stories website.
The next Snapchat killer? Facebook has started implementing stories on their app. IG stories took most of the users of Snapchat.
The feature is essentially similar to what you have grown accustomed to if you use Instagram or WhatsApp where any media, images or videos disappear after 24 hours. The feature can be accessed from the top of the app. One important thing to note here is that this feature will roll out to users in Chile, Greece and Vietnam. The feature is not available in all the markets as reported by TechCrunch and it was first tested for users in Ireland in January.

This comes a week after the company launched Messenger Day in the Facebook Messenger app. The feature was introduced in WhatsApp last month while it was added to Instagram last year. One interesting fact to note is that Twitter greeted this feature with a backlash similar to what happened when Facebook added the feature to WhatsApp. WhatsApp was pushed to bring the Text status back to the app.
